“In Your Own Backyard” Raven Gets Raves!

I know I’ve posted about Raven (or Crow, Raven’s smaller counterpart) before; but, I simply can’t help myself when I see these magical creatures “doing their thing”. I captured these two stunners around 7:00am–eyes wide open, faces to the rising sun, exhibiting a peace and calm that I aspire to live in my own life. Over centuries, we have seen raven depicted in cartoons and movies as a “frightening omen”, but I see them as very gregarious and sociable creatures–not to mention absolutely stunning in their features: sleek, black, shiny feathers, and, when seen up close, as in this picture, onyx-like soulful eyes. Raven teaches us to be watchful of signs that will guide and teach us. They are brilliant birds that, through their distinct verbal communication, teach us to notice that which may be out of balance and speak up about it. As we take a good, hard look at our world today–our Nation–we may be well justified in taking Raven’s advice…

Are these ravens synchronized staring? I think this shot is amazing. The claws on the left look like vice grips!
