Soulful and Inspiring!
T. Love "Spiritual Radio Show Host"
The photography is gorgeous, the story is inspiring. There is much symbolism in what transpired between the author and the smallest of birds. We are the observer and the observed. It’s amazing how much can be gained from this accounting of a brief glimpse in time that changed the trajectory of a life. I was enthralled, enlightened, inspired and yup, I cried. This book has so much meaning, it brings so much joy and it teaches more than one would ever imagine. It is a great gift and it is a gift to be shared. Give this to those you love. It is a most wonderful gift of presence and joy, love and laughter, teaching and learning – I LOVED IT! It is short but so poignant. A message of love to inspire the world, we are given an understanding of the complexity and beauty that is all around us if but we only take a moment to notice. Kudos to Noelle Meade- Izzi for allowing the world to see this personal and awe-inspiring time of challenge and growth. Thank you for sharing!

Beautifully Photographed Hummingbird Changes Writer
Conny Withay, WordPress
At eighty pages, this square hardcover book is a pictorial journey of the writer’s inner thoughts and observances watching a tiny hummingbird build a nest and take care of her little offspring. With beautiful, stunning photographs by the author usually on the right side of the page…a dark brown border enhances both the exquisite photographs and wording on every page.
Targeted more to adults than young children, Meade-Izzi notices a small bird’s nest being built in a pine tree near the balcony of her home. Fascinated and enamored by such a minute creature, she names the mother hummingbird Artemis, after the goddess guardian of nature and watches with humility and patience as the creative, functional nest is built, the miniscule egg is hatched and the baby bird comes to maturity.
Having to leave for a week in Paris, the writer anxiously comes back to see the proud mother showing off her charge. While observing the winged wonder, she notices how giving, nurturing and protective the bird is of its offspring as it seems to bond with her. More than once the bird hovers near her to get her attention, as if to show her something special.
Through trusting, intuition, faith, love and appreciation, the author is humbled and awed how little we as humans observe our surroundings and God’s creation. Focusing on the smallest bird in the world’s unique characteristics and flying capabilities, one easily understands how this particular bird symbolizes tireless joy.
With a new-age approach to Mother Nature, the author reminds us to slow down, be quiet and listen to the world around us to find inner peace and comfort. By witnessing such a small but complex animal, one can learn how this bird tends, coaches and encourages its young. In turn, we can learn from it to love, nurture and protect those around us.
The Next Jonathan Livingston Seagull
This book is an inspiration! If one can evolve past the beautiful and close-up HD photography of a tiny creature that moves faster and more agile than modern fighter aircraft, one will see a beautiful bird and it’s precious family unit through a well-written personal experience that turns to journey…then spiritual growth. The next level of evolution for the reader is a comfortable acknowledgment of the extraordinary parallels and synchronicities of this tiniest of birds and human beings. Even more important is the recognition of nature’s use of such a tiny creature as a “force multiplier” for the earth and all it’s bounty. Artemis is larger than life; she and Baby are spiritually perfect and brought to us in full-color, up-close and personal. This book, this story, this spiritual journey for all ages makes The Hummingbird that Answered My Heart’s Calling this generation’s NEXT Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
A Visual Delight
The Hummingbird That Answered My Heart’s Calling by Noelle M. Meade-Izzi is a visual delight. Each page of this square hardbound book showcases a magnificent full-size photograph of the hummingbird or her nest. The sequence of photos chronicle the story of the author’s discovery.
As with many Americans, the author was feeling the emotional pressures of the economic times. Then one day, while on a walk, she made a discovery that turned her life around. She spied a miniscule nest hidden amidst hanging pinecones. As she was pondering what tiny creature could live there, a hummingbird swooped in and took her perch. Day by day, she observed the bird build her nest with moss, lichen, bits of cotton, plant fibers, and even dryer lint–all “glued” together with spider webs.
But just as the day of birth was drawing near, Meade-Izzi was scheduled to take a trip to Paris. She feared she would miss the mama bird’s big day. A week later, she returned home at midnight and fell into bed. Early the next morning, she awoke to the sound of buzzing wings at her window. It was the hummingbird looking for her, trying to get her attention.
Quickly, she dressed and grabbed her camera. The hummingbird, now her friend, led her to her nest where she was introduced to her newborn bird. The photographs of the baby and mother together are heart-melting. I couldn’t help but think of Genesis 1:21, “So God created…every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.” (My own thought, no Scriptures are mentioned in the book.)
The story proceeds with baby bird’s development, the mother’s care and feeding of the bird, and finally, its eventual independence. Interspersed are thoughts and lessons learned by the author as she progressed through this project….the book is a total delight and a perfect gift book.
Absolutely Lovely Book
How blessed the author is to have had this experience and to have captured the journey in such a beautiful way. I laughed, I cried…I feel this book will do many wonderful things to and for people (and patients in our hospitals) when they have had a chance to read it…

Work of Art!
This book is an extraordinary work of art, not only in the way the author speaks to us or the astounding photos of this little miracle at work, but in the message of how one tiny creature can change our every day lives into amazing adventures, and a true journey within. Words cannot describe the beauty of the author’s journey, which you can’t help but experience with her while reading. This book is a beautiful reminder of life’s every day miracles. An honor to read.
Natures Inspiration When You Least Expect It!
When I received this book the cover caught my eye immediately…I thumbed through, looking at all of the beautiful pictures and relished in each one. I waited for my children to go to bed and sat by the fire to begin reading–to find out what this hummingbird did to prompt someone to write about her. Artemis and the author touched my heart and kept me intrigued to read more! The amazement of this little tiny creature to take notice of a human to the point of calling out to her to come look at her newborn baby…just wonderful! Nature whether it be animals, flowers, trees or any of Gods creations prompts us to stop and listen. This book is a reminder to do that and keep listening for that still small voice. I keep this book on my nightstand and look at it every morning to remember Artemis, her message and her little black pearl of an eye. I highly recommend this book!
